I’m Sure I Have Talent?

Everyday I wake up in the morning and ask myself the same question. ‘I’m sure I have talent but where is my talent leading me?’

Self-doubt is a strong toxic trait of mine that I am learning to overcome day by day. But it’s hard when you constantly put pressure on yourself to be the best version of you.

The first step to getting rid of this self-doubt is to stop complaining and do something about it. I’ve told myself this year is going to be full of nothing but celebrations and achievements for myself and all of those around me. It’s time to actually keep a track of my growth and get closer to my full potential. This is what I’ve been doing wrong these past couple of years, I haven’t really been monitoring my progress, I haven’t told myself what I need to change or what I’m doing wrong.

So a little advice from me to you, write down your personal goals for this year and give yourself a time frame for when you want to achieve them. Every time you achieve a goal treat yourself to a little celebration. At the end of the year once everything is done have a big celebration and look at how much you’ve grown in the space of a year. It’s quite simple, I want to be rich. I want to be happy. I want to be able to live an enjoyable stress free life. This may come as a shock to you but to get the things you want in life you actually have to work hard and go get them yourself. I know it’s mad, realistically everything should just be given to me without me having to lift a finger. But sadly, life isn’t as easy as this.

I literally realised this at the start of this year, where I looked back at my 2017 and 2018 and noticed I had literally made no personal development. Like actually deep it, since 2016 up to 2019 I am in exactly the same position in life. Obviously I’m being harsh on myself, some things have changed but the clear point is I’m not where I want to be in life right now. The problem was, I was saying what I was going to do instead of actually doing it. People aren’t lying when they say ‘Actions speak louder than words’. This is a real powerful phrase that I was not living by. I’ve got people around me making real big moves and do you know what they do, they keep silent and let their actions do the talking for them.

I think one thing people do a lot is not run in their own lane because they’re too busy looking at the other runners.

Sometimes you just need to have a sit down with yourself and realise life is not a race and that your time will come. Let’s put it this way some people around you could be running a 100m race but you’re in the 10,000m race. Take time and be patient. You’re going to reach your destination eventually if you focus on yourself..

Do I have a talent? Honestly, I don’t know. This is what I’m going to spend the year trying to discover by really jumping out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I may be surprised and find an unexpected talent but I’m never going to know unless I leave this comfort zone of mine. The comfort zone is another topic I’ll probably touch on in more depth in a different blog. But briefly, you’re never going to really be able to grow if you don’t put yourself out there in different situations to see how you react.

But look coming to an end, all I can say is stop putting pressure on yourself. Get rid of any self-doubt and watch yourself really grow into the best version of you. Your biggest competition is yourself.

Much love,

Gamel
